Backloop

Video with Jose 'Gollito' Estredo

Jose 'Gollito' Estredo shows the backloop. The backloop is similar to a very high jumped frontside 360, but the board and body are not rotated on the same axis.

The body weight hangs on the wing and the board is pushed through the wind with bent legs above head height.

Now follows the second phase of the jump: the arms pull the wing close, the view to the water (aiming for the landing zone) is over the front shoulder and the wing is turned with the leading edge downwards and then further in the new riding direction.

The nose of the board points down towards the landing zone. As soon as the wing flies like a parachute above your head, you can prepare for landing with the tail first.

Backloops that are not jumped so high can also be landed on a downwind course with a slight nose dive and then turned further in the direction of travel in the water.
