Backloop

Vinnicius Martins shows the backloop

In a backloop, the board is directed upwards into the wind (above hip or even head height) with the legs bent until you can look back over your shoulder to the surface of the water.

The landing zone is then selected. The wing is turned for the descent and the nose of the board also points in the direction of the intended landing zone.

To land, the wing is turned into the normal riding position, the board is back under the body and the legs absorb the touchdown.

Here Vinnicius Martins shows the backloop at the surf-freestyle world cup on Fuerteventura.
