Backside 360
Stefan Spiessberger shows the 360-degree rotation to leeward
Stefan Spiessberger demonstrates the backside 360 - a 360 degree rotation with board and wing that is jumped in upright body position to leeward.
The upright body position and neutral posture of the wing are important for this jump. The front hand grips the handle from below, then you jump off and turn backside in the direction of travel (nose out of the wind).
The direction of your view supports the rotation of your body, so just look over your back shoulder in the direction of rotation.
The wing remains overhead during the jump with the front tube facing into the wind. When you jump, you pull your legs in so that you can time your landing better later.
As soon as the tail of the board turns in the wind, the rear hand releases from the handle. The wing remains above the body, your body exactly above the board.
Right before landing, pull the wing forward with the front hand and build up an airflow again. Otherwise the wing tilts slightly to windward and it becomes more difficult to complete the move without crash. The back hand grips the board again and stabilizes the stance on the board after landing.
