Wind and Courses
beam reach, close reach and broad reach
The usual direction of travel when wingfoiling is the crosswind course. You travel at exactly 90 degrees to the angle from which the wind is blowing. This means that after a change of direction, you return exactly to the point from which you started.
If you want to sail slightly against the wind, this is called an upwind course. On this course, you can reach a point a little further upwind (the direction from where the wind is coming).
If you want to reach a point further leeward, you choose a downwind course. You will move away from the wind.
This video tutorial explains the courses you can take when wingfoiling.
