Frontside 360 Slide

The slided version of the frontside 360

Henning Nockel demonstrates the slided version of the frontside 360. Coming out of a switch stance jibe, he over-carves the turn until the foil breaks through the surface of the water. At this moment, the board is actively turned and the wing rotates flat above the head so that the wingtip does not dig in as much as possible.

Henning has so much drive in this shot that his foil briefly jumps out of the water. However, the move also works if the foil just skids across the water. The slide is the preliminary stage to the frontside 360 as a real jump.

As always, when rotating, the body follows the head, so the most important tip is to look in the direction of rotation. You can practice flat wing rotation on land — this will teach you how the wing reacts to the changed airflow during rotation.
