Jibing with the wing flagged
The switch stance variant of the wing drift jibe
Riding on flat water with a flagged wing is a good preparation for foiling in waves — whether in wind waves on a large body of water or in real swell on the ocean.
Flagging refers to holding the wing with one hand on the handle of the front tube (leading edge). The wing drifts (floats) leeward next to the body. In waves, the face provides the thrust; on flat water, you have to pump with the foil to keep going.
However, this video demonstrates a jibe with a flagged wing on a stroke in switch stance. The rear hand first grasps the front tube handle and guides the wing approximately hip-high in the lee of the body. The momentum from traveling straight ahead is utilized for the (switch stance) jibe.
When exiting the turn, pull the wing up, grab it again with your second hand, and switch your other hand from the front to the boom. You've now completed a switch stance jibe with flagged wing.
