Jump

The simple straight jump

Jumping while winging - it's relatively easy and even works on flat water. Here you can see the video recording of a jump from the side view.

To take off, gain momentum by steering the board down to just before the surface of the water (do not touch down!) and then, immediately afterwards, steeply upwards by stretching your body.

Hang your weight on the wing and bend your legs slightly. Do not jump to windward, but stay on the straight course or go downwind very slightly. To land, keep the nose of the board raised so that you can touch down with the foil first.

When landing, the foil cannot build up a proper flow directly, but sags until the bottom of the board touches down. It is therefore important to shift the weight a little further back so that the tip of the board does not dip into the water.

From this position you can immediately start the take-off again, i.e. bring the board back into the normal foil ride.
