How to abort a wave ride

Sometimes you have to bail quickly. Normally you ride a wave all the way to the end, but in some situations you may need to leave a wave quickly.For example, if there is a section that is too steep and you can no longer get around it. Or if the water is too shallow (reef).

Then the only way to escape the wave is to quickly cross the wave's back. You have to cushion this hump so that the foil does not catch too much air. Keep an eye on the contour of the wave and adjust the jump accordingly. This video shows a good example.
