Race Jibe
The Laydown Jibe (Race Jibe)
There are different ways to perform a race jibe, including laying the wing completely flat for a short time.
Prior to the race jibe, both hands should be gripping the wing in an overhand grip. When laying the sail, the rear hand slides forward on the boom (or, for wings with single handles, the rear hand grabs the front handle). Because of the downwind ride, the pressure in the wing is very low and you can lift it quite easily over your head back to the right side just before completing the jibe.
