Slob Grab

Grip the toeside rail and tweak the board

This tutorial shows the slob grab, a one handed jump when wing foiling, where the front hand releases the grip of the wing and grabs the toeside rail of the board. To be able to control the wing in the air, the back hand grips the wing a little further forward before the jump.

In this video, Stefan Spiessberger grabs the rail very far forward, which is almost a nose grab. The names of the grabs come from skateboarding and snowboarding: a slob grab is when you grab the toeside rail with your hand placed between the nose and your front foot.

You can tweak this jump well, i.e. extend the back leg while the front leg is bent and the hand holds the rail. The board turns with the leeward rail in the direction of flight.

To land, release your hand from the rail of the board, grab back onto the handle and turn the board back into straight direction.
