Starting with a small board

Tutorial with Klaas Voget

This is how you start wing foiling on small boards. The smaller the board volume in relation to your body weight, the more the board sinks under water when you try to start.

It is therefore particularly important to ensure sufficient depth before attempting to launch. Otherwise it is easy for the foil to run aground.

In this video, Klaas Voget shows the movement sequence for the sink start. The weight must be placed centrally on the board.

As long as the wing is still in the water, you can use it to stabilize the position (push the handles down and support yourself over the floating tube).

From a lying position, pull the front knee forward, the correct position is usually at the front footstrap. If you kneel too far forward or back, the nose or tail will drop and you will lose your balance.

All other steps of the sinker start can be found in the video tutorial.
