Tack in switch stance

A variant with changing grip before the tack

This variation can help you learn the switch stance tack: Instead of starting the grip change after the initiation of the turn and having to pay attention to two things, you can simply stay in a straight line and change your grip first.

The rear hand reaches forward, the other lets go. The next step continues at second 7 in the slow-motion section of the video (or second 20 in the other direction of travel).

What happens next is almost automatic: looking towards the inside radius, the arm slowly lifts the wing inwards past the front of the head - deliberately slowly, because this movement almost automatically initiates the turn into the wind.

The other hand can grab the boom again in the first quarter of the turn. This way you have the wing under control quickly and can use its power for the rest of the turn. Give this variation a try.
