Wingspin Tack - switch stance
A tack with an additional rotation of the wing
When doing a wingspin tack (in switch stance), the wing is spun a further 360 degrees above the head in the new riding direction in addition to the required standard rotation.
The wing is rotated flat, or as Finn Flügel shows here, rotated with the trailing edge ahead into the wind - the back hand pulls the front tube down a little, the front hand lifts the wing into the clew first position. The wing is briefly exposed to the wind, and the resulting aerodynamic pressure helps to let you turn in a tighter radius.
