Foil Festival Fehmarn
May 22–25, 2026 – for the last time at Südstrand
Over the Pentecost weekend, everything on Fehmarn will once again revolve around foil sports. The Foil Festival on Südstrand will take place from May 22 to 25, 2026, and, as in previous years, it’s the perfect opportunity to test out gear from a wide range of manufacturers. Around 40 exhibitors will be there, offering their equipment for test rides free of charge.
Test
In addition to wing foil and parawing gear, you’ll also find boards and foils for pump foiling, prone foiling, downwind SUP foiling, and e-foiling. You can find the list of brands on the festival’s website. As part of the 'boot Pumpfoil Experience', you can learn to pump foil for free at the Foil Festival.
Contest
The festival will also feature the DWFV German Wingfoil Championship in the freestyle discipline. Buoy course races will also be on display, and anyone can participate after registering in advance. This competition format is called the 'Winger of the Sea One Hour Edition', in which riders in various classes race around a buoy course for one hour. The riders with the most laps win.
Beach camp
As in previous years, there will be a beach camp right on the festival grounds where you can stay overnight in your campervans. This way, you’ll be right in the thick of things, won’t miss a single breeze or competition, and can wind down each evening with music by the sea. Tickets are available on the website.
There are also new additions to the no wind program: The no wind playground now includes a mini skateboard ramp and a cross-country course for OneWheel and Surron electric motorcycles.

Foil Festival 2026: For the last time at its old location on the southern cost of the german island Fehmarn
Looking ahead: Relocation starting in 2027
The Foil Festival is set to face a change of location in the coming years. As things stand, the event is expected to take place on Fehmarn’s South Beach for the last time, as the area is earmarked for a tourism development project featuring vacation hotels and upscale apartments.
The City of Fehmarn, the Public Order Office, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, and the State Agency for Coastal Protection, National Parks, and Marine Conservation of Schleswig-Holstein (LKN) are therefore working together to evaluate potential alternative sites on the island. Five potential locations are currently being evaluated for the festival’s continuation starting in 2027. In coordination with the Fehmarn Tourism Service, authorities, and landowners, environmental impact and usage assessments are currently underway. However, a final decision on a new venue has not yet been made.
