Wing Foil Action on the Columbia River
The Acherers meet the Spencers
The AWSI Boards Sports Expo took place in Hood River, Oregon, in early September. The event also brought together two sets of siblings who are currently shaping the sport.
Tom and Aleks Acherer from Austria are among the top contenders in freestyle, while Finn and Jeffrey Spencer, two Canadians living in Hawaii, are right at home in the waves.
The Columbia River offers both, so they took this trip as an opportunity to hit the water together, test out some gear, fine-tune their technique, and capture it all on video.
Tom and Aleks were killing it on the Big Air - high frontflips, double frontflips, and other spins. Finn and Jeffrey were riding the river waves in the Gorge like they were real ocean swells - downwind rides with Parawing, Wing, and Duotone’s new electric toys.
"It was really special to finally meet Finn and Jeffrey in person", says Tom Acherer. "We’ve always looked up to both of them, and getting together here to test things out and learn from each other was something special. We pushed each other - it was pure motivation."
Noe Flint was there with his camera and filmed and edited a video of Aleks, Tom, Jeffrey, and Finn hanging out together. It’s titled "Brothers in the Hood", and you can watch it below.
