Race Jibe
Alternative name: Laydown Jibe
Category: Freestyle
Level of difficulty: Level 2 (from 4)
Special characteristics:
- riding backwinded
Description
The race technique makes it possible to jibe at high speed. The wing is placed upside down in the turn. This allows an unobstructed view in the riding direction. This is particularly important when you are chasing other competitors around the jibe buoy in a race.
As soon as the wing is in the backwind position, swing it over your head to leeward with the trailing edge first.
The race jibe is also known as the laydown jibe because the wing is placed upside down parallel to the water surface.
