Water Start

Alternative name: Water Start - Windsurf Style
Category: Basics
Level of difficulty: Level 2 (from 4)

Description

This is how the water start works when wing foiling. With this technique, you can launch the wing out of the water and let the power of the wind lift you onto the board.

This technique is very similar to the water start in windsurfing or kiteboarding.

Do not mix up: the term water start is sometimes used in wing foiling for a different start technique on small volume boards, where you push the board under the body under water and then use the force in the wing to stand up. This is better described as sinker start.

The technique described here shows the dindsurf style water start, where you swim sideways next to the board and let the wing pull you onto the board. This requires a slightly stronger wind.
