Backside Air Jibe
Jump with transition
A video tutorial for the air jibe, which is jumped in the normal riding position (heelside). As the term jibe suggests, this is a change in the direction you are riding, a jump with transition.
This can also be called a backside air jibe, as in the instructions from Duotone, whereby the addition backside refers to the direction of rotation of the body during this jump.
From the normal riding position, you jump with the back of your body ahead - i.e. backside.
The (backside) air jibe is a little more difficult to jump than the frontside air jibe, as you land with your back ahead and in switch stance (toeside).
Unlike a normal jump, you jump a little more upwind and turn the tail of the board a maximum of 180 degrees through the wind.
The wing is turned into the new direction after landing. Your stance is toeside now - start foiling or change your foot position to ride heelside.
