Backwind Jibe
Standing switch and lift the wing to windward before jibing
This is how the backwind jibe works: on a leg in switch stance, you move your back hand forward and lift the wing upwind over your head when initiating the jibe. While the other hand reaches backwards, the wing is pulled downwards in the direction of travel.
At this moment the wind is blowing from the top onto the wing, you are backwinded and have to push the wing against the wind. The wing generates power and you are pushed to leeward. You can use this to generate propulsion for your ride through the remaining part of the jibe.
The backwind jibe looks most dynamic when you pull the wing forward again as quickly as possible over the outside of the turn and foil a small radius. This way, you are already on the downwind course with the wing fully turned.
