How to switch your feet
Changing your stance while parawinging
This video tutorial shows how to change your foot position when parawinging. When foiling, the board reacts very easily to any change in weight distribution, so you need to be very careful when shifting your weight from one foot to the other with every change of position.
Finn Spencer shows how to master this job in this video. You start with a low position on the foil to give yourself as much scope as possible when changing feet. The rear foot pushes the board slightly upward before lifting off and placing it next to the front foot.
This slows down the rise of the board, as your body weight is now further forward. Then move your other foot back. This foot immediately puts weight back on the tail of the board, stopping the nose from sinking and bringing the board back into normal foil mode.
As an alternative to changing your standing position, you can steer the board back into the water from the foil ride to gain more stability for moving your feet.
