Riding Back to Wing
Hold the wing behind your back
Foiling with the wing in your back - is that even possible? The 'back to wing' body position is unusual, as you hold the wing behind your back and have to foil virtually blind. You stand on the board in switch stance (toeside), with your upper body and toes pointing upwind.
To get into this position, first foil in switch stance and bring the back hand in front of the front hand. This opens the wing and the strut with the rear handle blows slightly to leeward. You then have to fish it with the other hand, i.e. turn your upper body towards the wind and try to catch the rear handle (end of the boom) with your arm stretched out backwards.
This is precisely the crux of this move, as the body's center of gravity is shifted over the foil and pulling the wing tight behind the back is also quite unusual.
This trick is easier at first if the wing is equipped with a boom or long fixed handles. Fishing blindly behind the back for small loops makes things a little more complicated.
