Riding one-handed
One-handed wing foiling in a straight line
To be able to hold a wing with one hand, you need to find the point of pressure of the wing. To do this, put your back hand forward until the pull on the front hand eases. When the back hand is exactly at the point of pressure, you can let go with the front hand.
A wing with a boom is best suited for one-handed riding. A wing with long handles also works if the handle reaches the position of the point of pressure. Even on older wings with several grip loops, you can find a position that is suitable for one-handed riding.
Wings with two short handles are not suitable, as these do not usually sit above the point of pressure.
One-handed riding works best in switch stance, as this allows you to turn your body outwards better. This position feels a little more relaxed than when foiling in the normal stance position.
Riding one-handed is a good preliminary exercise for moves where you have to hold the wing with one hand.
