Tack against a wave

Tacking into a small wave

An oncoming wave can be used like a banked turn, simply put more effort into the curve than usual (the foil can be angled steeper) and additionally use the power of the wave to generate speed for foiling through the turn.

You can see it clearly in the video, Noé Cuyala uses the speed of the crosswind ride to luff up and as soon as the board points into the wind after the 90-degree turn, he is on the face of the wave - that's the right timing.

From this moment on, the thrust of the wave ensures that you can continue your foil ride. You no longer need propulsion from the wing, cause you are surfing down the wave. Just change your grip an that's it.
