Starting in lightwinds
Alternative name: Lightwind Take-off
Category: Basics
Level of difficulty: Level 2 (from 4)
Description
To get going when wing foiling, you have to actively pump, especially in light winds. The board and wing are pumped simultaneously. This technique is called pump start.
The pumping motion of the wing accelerates the board and generates lift on the foil. You use this lift by shifting your weight on the board to pump the foil up and down.
If you coordinate both movements correctly, you only need a few cycles to get the foil board flying.
These tutorials show you how to start in lightwinds.
